Hypnotic. Cataleptic. Ecstatic.
Activa's Airflow Remix for a more gradual pulsating listen. | Category: | Music | | Genre: | Dance & DJ | | Artist: | The Thrillseekers feat. Aruna |
Depressing song that keeps bringing me back to it over and over again. Not exactly the most recent track out there, but this one's staying with me for life.
With so much left unspoken, Unopened, I'm broken. | Category: | Music | | Genre: | Dance & DJ | | Artist: | Ikon |
Somewhat poppish sounding song, but that low electric bass with those sultry vocals on top of it just sexes everything up nicely.
One for the night, for sure. | Category: | Music | | Genre: | Indie Music | | Artist: | Explosions In The Sky |
Yet another album release by instrumental post-rock group Explosions In The Sky, and despite it being more of the same fare, one can never seem to have enough of their sound. My favourite track off this album is definitely "So Long, Lonesome". Its clean innocent guitar, coupled with a warm piano-driven lead, moves this serenader with purity. A meticulously constructed, understated awakening that is about to happen, not with a big bang, but a gradual ascent, and the culmination that occurs is an enchanting, subtle ripple.
"Its Natural To Be Afraid" is another good track, and at 13.27mins long, its the longest song as well. With most songs topping 4mins at most currently, this is actually a relief. In fact, this song is perfect for the roads as it eats up travelling time, while providing a lush aural landscape for the tired soul.
A bonus CD is supplied as well, providing remixes of the songs on the original CD. Most of them are just as good as the original, and are a good addition to the main sound of Explosions In The Sky. | Category: | Music | | Genre: | Rock | | Artist: | Bloc Party |
Okay so this has been out for awhile already, but the songs are still refreshing thus far. The album is brilliant, not just a selected tracks, but the whole record. The style is unique, a refreshing change from the usual stuff I listen to.
Helicopter / Banquet gets us off in the right direction, both energetic and catchy, its bound to get you up up and about.
This Modern Love is absolutely the best track off this album. Its simple, yet it stays with you the longest. The subtle repeating rhythm riff, accompanied by Kele's vocals is amazing, and the lead guitar by Russell isn't complicated, but yet acts as a form of garnish to the whole song.
So Here We Are / Plans are the sort of songs that Russell (lead guitarist) probably had a ball of a time creating and perfecting. Lotsa dreamy delay effects, not the least bit overbearing in any way, instead it complements the song entirely.
An album that's definitely worth listening to. | Category: | Music | | Genre: | Dance & DJ | | Artist: | Mike Koglin vs P.O.S. |
Floating. Wafting through the air. Falling. Hallucinating.
That's the breakdown for you. Something about the melody that makes you wanna raise your hands up, and feel the rush coming. Feel it tingling up and through the body, as the beats slowly come back and strip you down to your instincts. Jump to the beats. The rush has just kicked in, relish the moment, and await the next one. | Category: | Music | | Genre: | Dance & DJ | | Artist: | Stephen J Kroos |
"ZAP ZAP ZAP ZAP" goes the main melody of this song, and boy does it make you go bonkers! Heard it first on Armin's ASOT radio show, and I fell in love with it immediately. It has a rather slow buildup during the melodic sections of the song, but once those zappy zap sounds kick in, the brain goes bonkers. The mind gets so frazzled it can only conjure up thoughts that's best described as "!!!?!?!?!?!!!!" | Category: | Music | | Genre: | Dance & DJ | | Artist: | Randy Katana |
Yes, it may not be the latest song, but it still knocks the socks off me everytime I hear it! You either love-it-or-hate-it with this particular one, and I'm definitely loving it. The Bead says "Wah what's this song? Damn nice, makes you feel like letting go and dancing to the beat" when she heard the cute bleeping melody right after the breakdown. | Category: | Music | | Genre: | Miscellaneous | | Artist: | Fenomenon |
Probably something you'd hear on Lush 99.5FM, this song just paints a serene, lush environment wherever you are. Imagine waiting at the bus stop, everyone's zooming past you, people chatting, cars rushing, but all that you can hear is music reflecting peace and tranquility (as Andrea de Cruz says on 99.5 heh), which is what the soul needs after another routine day at school/work/wherever you are.
The world just seems to be at double speed, and everything just flashes by. Its almost as if you don't exist anymore, you're just part of the background, fading away from all the troubles you have, even if its just for a moment. Definitely gotta treasure them. | Category: | Music | | Genre: | Alternative Rock | | Artist: | Placebo |
Slightly raw, this is definitely beautiful sorrow.
Those feeling down and out, this song is just for you. Feeling rather down? Got the blues? Turn up the volume a little, let the song match your emotions. You'll feel as if you've found someone who understands your sorrows completely, without the need to even speak.
Happiness is always shortlived; melancholy is forever. | Category: | Music | | Genre: | Dance & DJ | | Artist: | Ronski Speed with Stoneface and Terminal |
The short bursts of lead synth hits you as you unknowingly bob your head to the beat, and your legs starts shaking to the rhythm. The rhythmic female vocal is a tad overused in recent times, but it does suit this song rather well. Those looking for a more melodic version can check out K-DE's remix of the song, although this rendition is the better of the 2 in my opinion. | Category: | Books | | Genre: | Nonfiction | | Author: | Dave Haslam |
Bought this book while lounging around in Borders. What appeared to be a cheesy-titled book was in fact a rather well-written, descriptive as well as witty insight into the history, and lifestyle, of a few DJs who've made some impact one way or another in the club scene. Ranging from the superstar DJs (Sasha, Paul Van Dyk, Norman Cook aka Fatboy Slim etc.) to the small-town DJs (Guy Stevens, etc.) , they've all got stories to tell, and so does Dave Haslam.
Despite not having read finish the book, I'm already rather satisfied with what I've seen so far. You really get to see the change, not just merely in club culture, but also how the whole social and political scene of the country affects everything. Its like a disjointed ride through time (starts off with modern day Sasha and PVD, and then suddenly we're back in the 1950s in the USA when there were no turntables yet). The book isn't a continuous flow through time, which is good as each new chapter gives the book a refreshing change in culture and environment. Certain parts can be a bit dry, but its not much of a problem even for the casual reader. Recommended, even if you're not interested in music. Descriptive narrations are great, and you literally get transported to that particular era, and you can almost picture the scene perfectly. | Category: | Music | | Genre: | Dance & DJ | | Artist: | Jose Amnesia |
CLASSIC TUNE!
Energetic, yet not overly done, this song is SOOO dream-like, especially during the solo piano breakdown, before breaking into euphoria once more. Nu NRG does it again with this amazing remix. Do check out the more chilled, Balearic sounding remix of this song called the "Sunrise Remix". Beautiful track for the morning. | Category: | Music | | Genre: | Dance & DJ | | Artist: | Rusch & Murray |
I've been listening to this song countless times and yet it hasn't been posted up here, thought it deserved some credit, so here it is.
Great song while on the road, the catchy synth melody is simply mindnumbing. This one has to be heard. The Bead says she likes this song, so if she likes it, then it has to be somewhat good, seeing as how she's a picky song listener. | Category: | Music | | Genre: | Dance & DJ | | Artist: | Way Out West |
Driving beats peppered with violin samples, and electronic effects inserted at the right place at te right time. The song is great to listen to before a match as it really gets you all perked up, pulling you by the arm, something irresistable about it that makes you follow it. Enchanted state of trance, hypnosis, whatever. Get the bloody song already!
